A trio of Canadian players have joined Ba FC in time for the Oceania Champions League, the club has confirmed.
The Fijian side says the three players have arrived from Toronto after playing in the MLS in America.
Update: They have now been named as defender Troy Watson, striker Nathan Brown and midfielder Amal Singh.
Coach Alvin Singh says they will join the Ba squad immediately.
The players will be given time to train with the team before the decision to field them in the Oceania Champions League in February is made.
Singh told FijiLive: “We want to field them in the Vodafone Premier League but this will depend on their transfer from the US. If we can get their transfer then maybe we will field them in matches before the OFC Champions League so we can build good combinations.”
The Fiji Vodaphone Premier League kicks off on Sunday when Ba will play Nadi at Prince Charles Park at 3pm.
The club’s Champions League group begins on 10 February with a match against group host and Vanuatu qualifier Nalkutan.
Ba will then face Lae City Dwellers and the winner of the qualifying stage in the four-team group.
Much of Ba’s hopes will be resting on the goals of striker Saula Waqa, who was top scorer in the recent Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu with six goals.
