Fiji international Christopher Wasasala set to seal sensational return to Labasa

Lautoka midfielder Christopher Wasasala is training with former club Labasa as a transfer nears.

The move would see the talented midfielder rejoin Labasa a year after leaving for champions Lautoka – and would deliver a major blow to Lautoka’s Oceania Champions League hopes.

Wasasala, 23, is one of our Oceania’s Eleven Series this year, which means we have singled him out as a player to watch in 2018.

However, it seems the Fiji international will be missing out on Champions League football to return to his former club.

Labasa has applied for the release of Wasasala and Lautoka team mate, defender Iliesa Lino, in time for the end of the Fiji transfer window.

Coach Bal Sanju Reddy says the duo have been gelling in well in the training.

“They have been training with the team, Christopher {Wasasala} is a player who was playing for Labasa in the past so if they come and join us I think it will be a boost to the Labasa team and we will be happy to have them in our team.”

Wasasala scored twice in Lautoka’s opening game of the season in a 5-1 victory over Tuvua.

After making his international debut last year he also has five goals in 11 appearances and is one of the most important players in Fiji.

If the move is confirmed he will line up for Labasa against Dreketi as the Fiji Premier League returns after the closure of the transfer window.
