Toti City Dwellers, formerly Lae City Dwellers, continued their winning start to the season by scoring seven goals against Madang FC.
The two clubs will compete in the Oceania Champions League 2018 next month but Toti seem better equipped after the 7-2 victory.
Papua New Guinea fans hoping for a strong Champions League run will be worried about Madang FC’s form, but Toti look set to enter the tournament in superb form – and with two of the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League’s deadliest goalscorers.
Madang FC scored twice through Nigel Malagian but were beaten comfortably by Toti.
Madang had gone ahead early on before 31-year-old Gunemba quickly hit back.
Solomon Islands star Tanito made it two goals in two games for his new club with a penalty on 11 minutes to put his team ahead.
After half time Gunemba scored in the 50th minute before Nigel Dabinyaba scored his first of the game.
Gunemba completed his hat trick to make it to make the score 5-1 before Dabinyaba scored his second and Obert Bika added a seventh.
The match leaves Toti top of the league on nine points from three games and Dabinyaba and Gunemba are now joint-top scorers in the league with five goals each in just three games.
Elsewhere FC Morobe Wawens beat Buang FC 2-1 in the first of the double-header day played in front of a bumper crowd.
However the match between Southern Strikers and Besta United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, with pictures showing deep puddles on the pitch after heavy rainfall.
