Vanuatu wonderkid Ronaldo Wilkins will join Rewa FC in Fiji next week, the club has confirmed.
Rewa announced this week they wanted to sign Ronaldo Wilkins and international team mate Bong Kalo for the new Fiji Premier League season.
The club now says Wilkins has agreed to join the club – and will miss out on playing for Erakor Golden Star in the Oceania Champions League as a result.
The club told OceaniaFC.com: “Erakor have agreed to release Wilkins. Deal done and sealed. He should be joining Rewa by next week.”
However, OceaniaFC.com has been contacted by an official at Wilkins’ club Shepherds United, who says he knows nothing of the agreement.
Wilkins is only on loan at Erakor for the Oceania Champions League and that means any deal would have to be done with Shepherds United for the transfer to be confirmed.
If it does go through, Wilkins will join Rewa before the end of the Fiji transfer window and will not compete in the Champions League.
There is no news if Bong Kalo will leave Vanuatu Champions League qualifiers Nalkutan to follow his countryman.
Ronaldo Wilkins is one of the highest-rated young players in Oceania. The striker recently travelled to Brazil for a trial with Sao Paulo and starred in Vanuatu’s u20 World Cup campaign in 2017, scoring against Mexico in the opening game.
He is one of our Oceania’s Eleven – a selection of eleven of the most exciting players in the region who should be expected a breakthrough year.
